About Rio

Inviting his listeners into a deeply personal space, singer-songwriter Rio Devore is crafting a world of honesty and realism with poetic storytelling. Writing songs that are lyrically driven and emotionally charged, Rio’s music not only offers a chance to relate, but also brings hope and healing.

Growing up in Southern CA, Rio found his love of music early on, inspiring the creation and release of songs and albums under other names, including The Night of His Very Own Room and Wyatt and the Buffalo. His first solo album was released in 2018: “Learning to Laugh at the Sad Parts”, produced and recorded by Joshua James. Following its release, Rio toured the West Coast and relocated to Seattle, WA where he is now based and performs shows across the state.

Over the years, he’s played shows with bands such as The Ataris, Aaron Jones, Jed Crisologo, Noah Bird, Cape Disappointment, Sandi Fernandez, The Winter Shakers, Tyler McGinnis, Mt. Fog, Hummingbull, Lana Sparks, Joshua Red Uttech, and Comback Man.

Lockdown offered a new perspective, inspiring Rio to release an EP in January 2022, “Forgotten Songs of an Infamous Year”. Rio’s music has been compared to Conor Oberst from Bright Eyes, The Mountain Goats, The National, and Craig Finn from The Hold Steady. In March 2023, Rio released a self-produced acoustic album: “I Want You to Have This (The Last Bite of My Burrito)”. A few months later, Rio started recording and self-producing a new album, Amor Fati, released on January 19th, 2024.
